James (Jim) William Grant PProvGJW 50yrs a Mark Man

W.Bro James (Jim) William Grant PProvGJW is an Honorary member of Friendship Lodge MMM No 1549 at Southport.
Jim who is 90 years of age, had a terrible fall which rendered him immobile for most of 2021 and happily his recovery is progressing. However during that period he attained 50 years as a member of the Mark degree having been Advanced in United Lodge No 419 in Hong Kong in 1971 and later joining Friendship Lodge on his return to the UK. During his membership of Friendship Lodge Jim served in all the lodge offices, latterly being the Register of Marks for several years.
So it was on a frosty day in December when the Worshipful Master of Friendship Lodge, W.Bro Alan Cornes, accompanied by W.Bro Bro Phil Stock, Group Chairman of the Southport Group of Lodges and Chapters and the lodge secretary W.Bro John Murphy PProvGJW, who also happens to be the Group Chairman of the Mersey Valley Group of Lodges and Chapters, made a surprise visit to W.Bro Jim’s house in Southport to present him with his 50th Anniversary Certificates from the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons and from our own Provincial Grand Master.
Jim was overjoyed with his certificates together with gifts of a 50th Anniversary lapel badge and a bottle of Scottish amber liquid to warm him during the cold weather!.

In his response to the presentation Jim stated that he terribly missed attending his meetings but was looking forward to being well enough to resume his Mark Masonry as soon as he is able.
